Since I’m obsessed with oat flour an use it in almost all my recipes I thought I’d write a quick post about it.
Incase you see it in a recipe and don’t make it because you don’t have any at home. If you have oats at home, any oats, you can have oat out flour in minutes.. seconds really.
I usually make a big batch and store it in an airtight cereal container. It keeps well just like any other flour, as long you keep it sealed.
Stuff you’ll need:
oats – old fashioned, quick cooking or instant
a food processor or coffee grinder
airtight container for storage
How to do it:
Fill your food processor or grinder 3/4 full.
I blitz mine for 5-10 seconds. The time depends on what you are using to blend and which oats you use. If you’re using a coffee grinder it will take around 7 seconds but it will take around 20-25 seconds in a food processor. If you want the flour to be extra fine just blend for longer a time till you get the consistency you want.
That’s it! It’s done! Transfer the flour to an airtight container and repeat the process till you have used up all the oats 🙂
Don’t worry if it doesn’t look like regular wheat flour. Its supposed to look a quite grainy.
